Teen pregnancy is an issue that is familiar to us all. It has been affecting the young women of Milwaukee, WI most frequently.
Their is a dying need for the young women of Milwaukee to take a stand on their sexuality and understand that their are other options to prevent themselves from becoming pregnant.
What happened to parents teaching their children about sex and teen pregnancy?
Have we lost all of our young women to teen pregnancy, and are parents to blame?
No, not yet. The Milwaukee area is partnering with different organizations like the United Way, the Milwaukee Public Library and Milwaukee Public Schools to make this a city matter. Parents and teens both need to take responsibility of their lives and do everything in their power to protect themselves and become aware of the consequences that can occur if they continue to be sexually active.
This month is Teen Pregnancy Prevention month. Milwaukee has one of the highest teen birth rates. At 16.7 percent of all Milwaukee births in 2005 were to mothers under age 20.
I would like to see teens take more pride in their bodies and their lives. No one plans to have a baby, but their are ways to prevent it from happening. What happened to abstinence and waiting till your ready? For some this may be hard, but at least if your going to engage in sexual activities be smart about it, use protection.
The best advice that I can give: is be abstinent, if you are not willing to wait, protect yourself!!
